Legal Developments in Digital Assets at GM Vietnam

Vietnam has recently advanced digital asset regulations, highlighting the government’s commitment to a clear legal framework that supports industry growth.

In October 2024, the government unveiled its National Strategy for Blockchain Technology Development, slated for implementation by 2025. This roadmap outlines objectives to strengthen domestic infrastructure and position Vietnam as a regional powerhouse in blockchain adoption.

In parallel, the National Assembly has begun reviewing the Digital Technology Industry Law, which introduces key legal definitions for digital assets and proposes pilot programs for digital asset exchanges in major financial centers such as Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.

Additionally, the government has issued a directive to finalize a comprehensive legal framework for digital assets, including virtual assets and service providers, by May 2025.

From Ideas to Reality: Vietnam Rust Hackathon

The Vietnam Rust Hackathon, held as part of GM Vietnam 2024, saw 160 engineers from 39 teams competing for a prize pool of $160,000! The hackathon showcased the potential of blockchain technology to address real-world challenges.

The hackathon attracted over 1,000 participants to its training sessions and workshops, while 160 teams submitted their projects for evaluation. A panel of experts from renowned organizations, investment funds, and blockchain companies rigorously judged the submissions, selecting 19 teams to present their ideas on stage.

The diversity of projects showcased at the hackathon was truly impressive, ranging from DeFi solutions and NFT marketplaces to applications utilizing advanced technologies like Zero-Knowledge Proofs. The high quality of the submissions reflected the creativity and technical expertise of Vietnamese developers, highlighting their ability to grasp and apply emerging technologies.

Head to the designated check-in line for your ticket tier upon arrival at Thiskyhall Convention Center. Check-in runs from 8.00 AM to 5.30 PM (VNT) on June 7th and 8th, 2024.
